Amanda, I think that your first comment perhaps is the reason for your sullied reputation. Also I think that you must post a great deal in order to increase this reputation. I am not sure if I can make any claims with regard to social history except to say that Sufism also was used as tool for normativizing, thus limiting the acceptable choices of everyday folks who did not wish to be seen as heterodox or deviant in their practice. This is ironic since so many Salafi-types now decry Sufism as bid'a. I am not sure that this is not boring though.

Also, I noticed I have "2p" next my name. An explanation-box appeared to inform me that someone of "average reputation" scores 16p. What? How have I sullied my reputation?

John, this is boring. How does this systematization and normalization of Islamic mystic doctrine affect social history? If you do not answer this question, then I will be very bored.

We are a group of Egyptian volunteers. We have been ineterested articles and broadcasts about the garbage recycling society in Egypt. We are planning to start an initiative to help these people by sorting our garbage. __ __We want to start a campaign to get an organization to sponsor the idea and make waste sorting bins to be placed around Cairo and Alexandria in wealthy neigbourhoods, foodcourts, clubs and university complexes to start with.__We are also trying to find out if we can have mini composting units in places where there is a lot of food waste.__ __Please let us know if you can provide us with any statistics or ideas to support our project. We are planning to contact media figures to adopt the project in July. We are also ready to put our personal efforts to promote the culture of waste sorting and increase people's awareness.__ ____Solava Selim____

That's an excellent article. It is a huge problem in Egypt and I hope one day there will be a solution to cut it from the roots. I live in Mohandessine, it is one area full of garbage. I decided to use this excellent spirit people have after the revolution and invited the list of people I have on facebook who live in Mohandessine to think of ways to get rid of this garbage in a systematic way. I found a lot of positive response for participation which is great. I will start to have meetings hopefully soon to think of practical ways to do that. So I was happy to see your comments. If you have pratical ideas you already implemented or thought about, I'd really appreciated it if you share them with me as I took the responsability to lead this initiative.
Honestly, I believe this problem will only resolved when the level of awareness and sense of belonging will increase for the unpreviliged and uneducated people. However, we can work on temporarily solutions on the short term until we can reach a permanent solution on the long term, hopefully.
Thank you
